The MALDI SYNAPT G2-Si is powered by a solid state laser with a repetition rate of 2.5KHz to maximize the speed of analysis. The laser spot size can be selected for optimising sensitivity and speed of analysis, or for maximizing spatial resolution in Imaging studies. Due to the orthogonal geometry of the Tof analyzer, the source is decoupled from the mass analysis. So, unlike axial MALDI-Tof or Tof/Tof instruments, this ensures that high resolution and accurate mass are achieved in both MS and MS/MS modes across a wide mass range. In addition, SYNAPT is well suited to nonconductive samples such as paraffin embedded tissue sections on glass slides.
